Single Malt vs. Blended Malt Whisky Explained

Whisky labels can be confusing, so it’s good for drinkers to understand a few common terms. While
scotch is the most obvious example, the same distinction between single Malt and blended Malt Whisky and Whiskey applies anywhere in the world.
The most significant factor is how many distilleries played a role in making the whisky.

Single Malt Whisky

A blend of malt Scottish whiskies produced at one distillery from one type of malted grain (Barley).
Single Malt Whisky distilleries take care of the whole process from malting, smoking, mashing, fermenting, distilling, profiling, bottling, and marketing. This includes scotch brands such as Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Gelndronack, Talisker, and Balvenie to name but a few.
